Nigeria has announced that its troops killed at least 134 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the country’s northeast. The defense minister for Nigeria said that the terrorists were killed in an operation dubbed Kantana Jimlan which was launched on May 1.
John Enenche, Nigeria’s defense ministry spokesman said that of the neutralized terrorists 78 were ISWAP while 56 were from Boko Haram. Additionally, over 16 informants were arrested in the mop-up operation that comes as the country and the world fight a global health pandemic.
A huge cache of ammunition was recovered from the operation that has disrupted the two major terror organizations active in Nigeria that has left over 30,000 people dead and at least 3 million others displaced since its genesis in 2009. ISWAP splintered from Boko Haram to become the officially recognized affiliate in Nigeria.
