The United States conducted an airstrike targeting al Shabaab terrorists in the vicinity of Qunyo Barrow in Somalia. The airstrike killed two al Shabaab militants in the attack conducted in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.
The airstrike is the first U.S. strike on al-Shabaab announced by AFRICOM since the attack in Lamu, Kenya and it is part of a larger ongoing campaign to eradicate the terrorist group in Somalia.
The US has expressed increased cooperation between her and her East African allies especially Kenya in a holistic campaign against the al Qaeda affiliated terror group that has been stepping up its attacks in Somalia and Kenya’s northern prefecture.
