The Nigerian military has conducted airstrikes against Boko Haram terrorists on the fringes of Lake Chad in the northeastern state of Borno. The airstrike targeted a Boko Haram meeting that is believed to be for the purpose of conducting attacks in the region.
The Nigerian air force said the Boko Haram militants were regrouping and holding a meeting in one building at the center of Kollaram, a settlement in Borno when military fighter jets were deployed to the location. At least a dozen militants were killed in the bombardments and a would-be deadly attack in Borno was averted.
The airstrike which followed credible intelligence was part of ongoing efforts by the military to get rid of remnants of the Boko Haram group in the northeast region of Nigeria, the air force said.
