At least 14 people have been killed and several others injured after an attack by the ISIS-affiliated Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). The attack occurred in Kukutama, south-west of Oicha in North Kivu.
According to preliminary intelligence, the majority of the victims were either hacked to death or beheaded a mode of operation style preferred by the ADF. It is believed that the jihadis are attacking the villages as revenge for the increased military presence in North Kivu as well as a way to loot and source supplies.
This attack comes barely a few days since another attack a few miles away claimed the lives of at least 19 people. More than 100 people have been killed since October 30 when the army started an operation to root out the ADF, a jihadist group operating in the dense forests bordering Uganda.
