Troops under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) were lauded and honored for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty. Ethiopia National Defense Forces (ENDF) troops were honored AMISOM headquarters in Beledweyne to mark the end of their year-long tour-of-duty.
The troops were commended for their hard work in neutralizing and clearing explosive devices planted by terrorists along main supply routes. The troops have been clearing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and landmines in the various parts of Somalia.
In the recent months, AMISOM troops have been recapturing towns from al Shabaab especially in southern Somalia where the militants have an active presence. AMISOM has been clearing towns and major access routes as the African troops ready to exist Somalia.
