At least 5 civilians were killed and over 20 others kidnapped by Islamic State Central Africa in Ndama in the chiefdom of Watalinga in the territory of Beni, North Kivu. The terrorists invaded the villages killing civilians indiscriminately, torching over 15 houses and abducting people in what is slowly becoming the group’s mode of operation.
Reports indicate that while the group has been regrouping and building capabilities for large scale attacks in the larger Great Lakes region, the DRC’s military has stalled and has been referring to the now full-blown terror organization to guerilla rebels.
IS-Central Africa has been in the past months been reinventing itself from a mere rebel group to a full-scale terror organization and a recognized Wilayat of ISIS. It is quite evident that the terror outfit has adopted tactics similar to its sister-group ISWAP and Boko Haram in Nigeria who constantly kill and abduct villagers. The threat by the DRC based terror group if goes unchecked could give room for the sprout of a violent insurgency that could potentially put the larger East and Central Africa at risk.
