4 Terrorists were killed after they attempted to conducted a reinforced IED attack along the border with Kenya Midday Monday. The Somali based terrorist group attempted to attack Kenyan police security officers of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) from El-Ram area using an improvised explosive device and assault rifle attack. The militants detonated the IED targeting the team’s vehicle. The driver tactically avoided the spot where the militia had dug and placed the explosive after he noted a slight bump ahead forcing him to steer the vehicle away just as the IED detonated.
The militia who were hiding in the dense vegetation opened assault riffle fire at the unit members. The team however successfully thwarted the attack killing 4 militants. The ASTU team was heading to Kutulo police station. No casualties were reported. 4 Terrorists were killed in the counter attack.
