Somali army forces received Ibrahim Mansor Osman, a militant, who defected from Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab.
The terror operative with AK-47 laid his arms to Somali forces in Dinsor town, about 250km north-west of Mogadishu.
According to Somali army official, Shine Mayow Aden, Osman had been fighting alongside Al-Shabaab for nine years agreed to work with government forces by giving them helpful information regarding their operations in the area.
He also called on residents in the town to forgive Osman and welcome his brave decision to denounce Al-Shabaab membership.
Last week, Somali military announced of two senior officers of Al-Shabab laid down their arms to military forces in Bardere town, some 343km south west of Somali capital, Mogadishu.
On May 2, Somali military also accepted the surrender of nine fighters defected from Al Shabaab.
Another Kenyan who had finished training with Al-Shabaab surrendered to Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) about two weeks ago, just as he was about to be deployed for operations along Kenya-Somalia border.
The armed group Al-Shabaab is yet to comment on recent defection of its fighters.
