Somalia National Army (SNA) has arrested a key al Shabaab terrorist in an ongoing operation in southern Somalia. The man who was identified Ibrahim Lujindo Mohamed is said to have been fighting alongside al-Shabaab for ten years.
Mr. Lujindo was arrested in the vicinity of Barsanguni village which has been a theatre for many al Shabaab attacks in the past. Moreover, intelligence reveals that the suspect was instrumental in the execution of the 2016 El Adde attack by the militants against Kenyan troops.
Somali special forces backed by US troops have also intensified planned operations against the targets of the armed al-Shabaab in the south of the country. Despite losing many towns to Somali military-backed AMISOM troops, the group still controls several towns in South and central Somalia.
