The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops on June 1 arrested two Harakat al Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) militants in a foiled ambush in southern region of Somalia.
Military reports from Somalia indicate that the two were arrested at Wanlawyen in Baledogole, and were found in possession of improvised explosive device (IED).
“As the convoy approached the black-spot, soldiers disembarked and moved on foot 500 meters away from the road where they met two men hiding, and upon checking, found in possession of improvised explosive device (IED) triggers,” said the AU mission in a statement on Saturday night.
The two Al-Qaeda linked terror operatives were taken to Baledogole for further interrogation for possible prosecution.
