A seniors Al-Shabaab commander in-charge of Lower Shabelle region along with his bodyguard surrendered to the Somali Somali National Army on Saturday, March 30, 2019.
The terror operative identified as Ibrahim Mohamed Bitow was the leader of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in Lower Shabelle region. He surrendered to Somali National Army citing Al-Shabaab’s bad ideology and senseless killings against the people of Somalia.
He highlighted a number of recent evil acts whereby the Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab has terrorized the innocent people, shedding off the Muslim blood aimlessly.
Bitow confessed to have led over 100 Al-Shabaab fighters in fights against Somali government and partner forces abd that they were defeated many times. Bitow surrendered to the government forces saying he is tired of running and hiding in the jungles.
The terror operative who has fought for Al-Shabaab for the past nine years thanked he Somali government for extending warm welcome to other militants who have denounced and left the terrorist group. He vowed to work with Somali troops to ensure that Al-Shabaab in Lower Shabelle region is defeated.
His bodyguard, identified as Adam Gedi or Adan Dhere, regretted to have fought for Al-Shabaab saying it had brainwashed him when he was only 11 years.
