Al-Shabaab attempted attack on Somali army and AMISOM troops in Bula-Marer town in Lower Shabelle region was successfully repulsed.
Heavily armed Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab fighters, midweek stormed Bula-Marer town from different directions prompting hours-long clash with Somali army troops.
Somali army troops got reinforcement from the troops operating under the framework of African Union Mission in Somalia thus overwhelming the Shabaab fighters.
Corresponding reports from locals in the town, confirmed of hours-long clash between Somali troops and Al-Shabaab before they were pushed back.
The allied forces continued with security operations in and out of the town.
