KDF troops fend off an attempted attack by Al-Shabaab terrorists targeting the Army-Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the general area of Fafadhun.
The Al-Qaeda (AQ) linked Al-Shabaab fired several mortars targeting KDF army-FOB in Fafadhun. Fafahdun is a town in the southwestern Gedo region of Somalia in the district of Bardera and is located south of El-Adde.
KDF army troops in formation swiftly responded to the enemy fire. Overwhelmed, Al-Shabaab militants withdrew from their positions abandoning their improvised devices and assortment of weapons which were captured by KDF. Military source confirmed there were zero casualties.
Possible targets (troop’s operating bases) to continue to beef up their security by increasing surveillance, conduct day and night covert scouting to ensure they detect enemy movement in time.
