Somali military confirms the death of a Pakistani jihadist who was fighting alongside Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab. According to the military source, the jihadist was killed in joint military operation conducted targeting Al-Shabaab in Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions of Somalia.
Somalia’s army chief in charge of the regions said that the foreign fighter from Pakistan whose name has not been released was killed in the latest joint operation.
He revealed that, the jihadist was in charge of making bomb explosives (IEDs) and training of Al-Shabaab newly recruited youths in central and south Somalia.
The joint military forces managed to recapture key targets previously under the control of Shabaab terrorist group that has been battling the western backed government of Somalia.
The killing of the Pakistani jihadist in Somalia comes barely a months after the Somali security forces announced killing of an Afghan jihadist who once fought in Yemen, alongside Al Qaeda branch. He was killed in an operation near Marka town, about 91kilometers southwest of Somali capital Mogadishu.
