The Burundian AMISOM contingent based in operating near the town of Jalaqsi in Hiraan province of Somalia were spotted making tactical withdrawal from the general area towards the town of Jowhar. Jowhar is the capital city of Hirshabelle state of Somalia and the administrative capital of Middle Shabelle region of Somalia.
The town lies strategically, connecting southern Somalia to Central and northern Somalia.
The Al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) terrorists after such withdrawal hurriedly moves in and makes claims as having captured the localities.
Ethiopian army contingent in Somalia in a number of occasions has made similar tactical withdrawals from their Forward Operating Bases but before disembarking burnt what was not useful.
A tactical withdrawal is the most desirable form of retreating and mainly is a strategically planned retreat to improve upon current battle conditions; or to gain a tactical advantage. Many times employed to lure the enemy into an ambush or to relocate the battle to advantageous terrain.
