The U.S. army has ordered more new M777 ultra lightweight howitzers from the United Kingdom’s BAE Systems.
BAE Systems announced that the company has received an order to supply 18 additional M777 155mm Ultra Lightweight Howitzers to the U.S. Army under a new contract from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
According BAE Systems, the new order builds on the more than 1,000 M777 gun systems already in service with the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
The M777 howitzer has a very effective artillery technology, long-range precision guided munitions capabilities and is has very flexible mobility options.
The M777 Ultra Lightweight Howitzer has become the point of reference for 155mm lightweight towed artillery systems, bringing superior artillery capability in the harshest environments with unparalleled tactical and strategic mobility.
