Puntland security force in close collaboration with Puntland commandos killed at least 12 and injured several other militants belonging to the ISIS faction in Somalia. The security operations took place in Madarshoon, Karin Haragod, Maridle, Dindigle and Harweyn villages of Al-Madow ranges which lies 53km southwest of Bosaso town.
The operations were also able to nab several Al Shabaab and ISIS members who are said to have been planning attacks on both military and civilian populations. The two groups have been wreaking havoc in the northern parts of the country that offer terrain suitable for training and creating camps that are hard to be traced by the security forces.
Galgala is a chain of mountains in Puntland in northern Somalia where Al-Shabaab and pockets of Islamic State fighters have been battling regional forces for several years.
