Police in Lamu County arrested a man suspected to have links with Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
Lamu County Directorate of Criminal Investigation Commander Paul Leting confirmed of the arrest saying that he will be interrogated to ascertain his links with Somali-based Al-Shabaab.
He also confirmed that Police had seized paraphernalia suspected to be used for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Police source in Lamu also confirmed of the arrest saying, the suspect was arrested in King Fahad County Hospital’s staff quarters.
The detectives handling the case said that they are investigating what the suspect was doing at the hospital staff quarters since he was not a medic nor a patient.
Lamu County has witnessed surge in Al-Shabaab insurgency that has resulted in deaths of security officers and civilians in the past recent months.
