Police in Norway is currently engaged in a standoff with a lone gunman armed with a machine gun in Skien Leisure Park located in Norway’s southern Telemark region. According to preliminary information, the police were called to the scene after the unidentified male dressed in camouflage clothes and armed with a gun was seen entering the park.
People in the vicinity among them a local high school Hjalmar Johansen High School have been told to exercise caution as well as remain in lockdown in the event the gunman is not alone. While the man has not been identified or his motives for wielding a gun in a public place, there is a large police presence in the area and surrounding areas.
Police are currently not ruling any motives by the gunman including terrorism seeing as lone attacks especially in Europe have been on the rise especially inspired by terrorist groups like al Qaeda and or ISIS online.
