The Nigerian military has announced that the country’s Airforce had struck two Boko Haram training camps in Zanari and Tunbun Rego in Borno state the terrorist’s organization’s stronghold. The air offensive was highly coordinated to ensure that there were no survivors seeing as those attempted to escape were mopped up by follow-up rocket strikes.
The air strikes at Zanari were planned and executed based on intelligence reports indicating that the Boko Haram terrorist had established a training camp in the village and was converging in an area prior to departing for an attack on Nigerian troops positions around the Lake Chad area.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole conducted the air assault using the Alpha Jet aircraft to lock on the two position and conducted the precision attacks that killed dozens of Boko Haram terrorists.
The recent airstrikes are in line with a renewed pledge by Nigeria’s President Buhari following his return from vacation earlier in the year. Boko Haram which is considered the most lethal province of ISIS in Africa has been dealt major blows in recent months as the mother-group in Iraq and Syria suffers major losses and on the verge of defeat.
