5 Members of Kenya’s National Police Service (NPS) and 3 others belonging to the Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) died after a police transport vehicle was destroyed by a remote controlled improvised explosive device (RCVBIED), at the general area of Boji-Garas near Wajir Town the headquarters of Wajir County, North Eastern Province (NEP) of Kenya.
Wajir featured predominantly in SI Threat Intelligence Reports (S.I-TIR) April-May 2018 period. Tiny cells of Somali terrorists managed to establish operating pads in Savannah grasslands in the NEP prefecture during this period. Boji-Garas is approximately 25-40 kilometers outside Wajir town (about 100 kilometers from the border with Somalia), the headquarters of Wajir County.
