Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) in a statement on Saturday, announced they killed nine militants in a security operation carried out in the northwest of the country near the border with Iraq.
The militants are said to have planned an attack in Northern Iraq before crossing over the border into Iran.The terrorists belong to the Sunni Muslim militants who are sworn enemies of the Shi’ite Iran.
The IRGC suffered no casualties in the security operation in the northwestern Iranian town of Oshnavieh.
Iran and Iraq security forces have been known to cooperate to promote border security on both sides.
