Malian troops killed 13 terrorists in an attempted overrun of an army camp in Boni town located in central Mali. The defense issued the statement that said that the troops repelled an attack on an army camp in the town where the thirteen were killed and arms and ammunition were recovered from the militants.
According to residents in the area, after the foiled attack, the military’s helicopters have been circling the area to ensure that the area is free of the jihadists. In the unfortunate attack, three Malian soldiers were killed by the terrorists.
Extremists linked to Al-Qaeda took control of the desert north of Mali in early 2012 but were largely driven out in a French-led military operation launched in January 2013. Since 2015 jihadist attacks have been concentrated on central and southern Mali and have spread into neighboring Burkina Faso and Niger.
