Kenyan Police warn of looming al-shabaab attacks planned on key infrastructure in the northeast areas of Kenya including coast regions during the holy month of Ramadhan.
According to Police spokesman Charles Owino, the security forces have received credible intelligence that the Islamic extremist group, al-shabaab, have extended their plans for attacks in Mandera, Wajir,Garissa and Coast counties.
During this month of Ramadhan, al-shabaab have conducted numerous attacks in Somalia killing several civilians and security personel.
Mr Owino also took the opportunity to clarify that the three paramilitary police officers killed on Wednesday after their vehicle ran over an IED were killed on Somali soil and not Kenyan soil.
The three were doing normal border patrol a few kilometers from the Somali border when the incident happened.
