Latest military reports by Somali National News Agency (SONNA) show that 10 Al-Shabaab combatants were on Tuesday morning after they clashed with government forces in Gedo region, town of Bardheere.
The Al-Qaeda (AQ) linked combatants attempted to breach into a Somali National Army (SNA) camp in Bardheere but they were met with fierce resistance. Al-Shabaab militant fighter had attempted to overrun the Bardheere Military SNA camp but failed to succeed in executing the attack.
Al-Shabaab who thrive on propaganda immediately claimed that they had overrun SNA camp in Bardheere. Somali National Army Commander of the 10th Division, Osman Sheikh Abdi confirmed of the attempted attack on SNA camp saying that the militants took an ambush attack against government soldiers who were on high alert, and successfully preempted the attack killing 10 of their fighters and capturing another.
The government forces also recovered large number of weapons from the felled combatants.
