Egypt’s military has killed 19 militants after an exchange of gunfire in Sinai and arrested at least 20 suspects in Sinai as part of a continuing crackdown in Sinai.
So far the total deaths since the beginning of the operation to destroy militants and militant activities that was launched in February is at 296.
Militants in Sinai intensified their operations in 2013 after President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ousted Egypt’s first freely elected President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood.
