The Afghan Army Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team foiled a plan by the anti-government armed militant groups to carry out a deadly explosion in western Herat province of Afghanistan.
According to the 207th Zafar Corps of the Afghan Military in the West, the militants had planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) made up of heavy artillery shells on a roadside in Farsi district.
The source further added that the militants wanted to detonate the explosives in Dasht-e-Qala village on the main road but their plot was foiled and threat averted after the explosives were discovered by the armed forces.
According to the Zafar Corps, the explosives were safely defused by the Explosives Ordnance Disposal team of the Afghan army.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban and ISIS frequently use explosives materials for the roadside bombings and car bombings to target the government staff and security personnel.
