At least 26 militants allied and loyal to the Taliban outfit were killed during a series of operations over the past 24 hours in the southern Ghor and eastern Laghman provinces, Afghan.
Another 14 insurgents were killed in Shahrak district of Ghor province while 6 were wounded, since Wednesday.
Several villages have been liberated from militants’ hold, according to Mohammed Iqbal, the provincial police spokesman.
One local policeman lost his life during the operation.
A similar operation in Alingar district, eastern of Laghman province, 12 militants have been killed and others arrested over the past 24 hours in operations launched by the National Directorate for Security ( NDS ), said Sarhadi Zowak, spokesman for provincial governor.
