Nigerian troops repelled a Boko Haram attack on a military base in Maiduguri where they overpowered the insurgents killing several. Military reports indicate that the insurgent triggered the botched attack by blowing up a vehicle but were met with gallant resistance by the troops.
A statement issued about the same said, “at about 6:45 p.m., suspected Boko Haram terrorists attempted to attack a military location at Auno village on Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway.”
Military and police reinforcements have since been deployed to enhance security in the area. The attack comes barely a day since another attack by the militants killed at least two dozen people in northeast Nigeria.
President Buhari is currently on a trip to the US where he is expected to rally more support from the nation to help battle Boko Haram that has been committing a lot f violent activities and senseless killings in Nigeria and neighboring countries.
