Dozen al Shabaab militants have been killed and several others injured after heavy fighting broke out between the Somalia National Army forces backed by AMISOM troops in Afgoye, Lower Shabelle.
The fierce gunfight started after an explosion was reported in the Qu’ran Market in Afgoye, Lower Shabelle region. The troops were conducting operations in the region following a directive by state commanders in Lower Shabelle.
The forces have stepped up operations against Al-Shabab Lower Shabelle region since February when Somali President declared new offensives against the terrorists.
