As part of the “Sinai 2018” Comprehensive Anti-terror Campaign, 10 terrorists and 4 Egyptian soldiers were killed in the restive North Sinai province, the army confirmed in a statement on Sunday.
In total the campaign, Egyptian forces have been able to kill 105 terrorists and managed to arrest about 3,200 suspects half of whom have been released after investigations.
The campaign has also seen over 1,400 terrorist hideouts and weapon stores destroyed since the campaign began on Feb 9, 2018.
At least 14 soldiers were killed and 16 injured in the raids so far.
Egypt has, for years, battled an armed anti-government campaign in the rugged and thinly populated Sinai Peninsula, which has gained pace since the military overthrew democratically-elected President Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood in mid-2013.
