Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen (HSM) movement, Al-Qaeda‘s official branch in Somalia, claimed to have killed more than 53 AMISOM troops in two separate raids.
Through their pro-website and radio, Al-Shabaab Islamists boasted to have killed AMISOM troops in Bay region and others in Middle Shabelle region of Somalia.
The militant group also claimed the death of six Kenya soldiers in the attack in the Kenyan frontier of Mandera County.
In what seems to be a retaliatory attack, about 50 heavily armed militants attacked the two camps on the border town of Fino, Lafey sub-county, before retreating to Somalia, five kilometers away.
KDF troops last week Tuesday ran over the militants’ camp killing over 40 Al-Shabaab militants and two of their senior commanders were an operation conducted in Fafadun, Gedo region of Somalia.
The militants attacks is as a result of humiliating defeats at the hands of KDF-AMISOM troops , SNA and US drone strikes conducted recently.
