Chiefs of Defense from AMISOM troop-contributing nations held a meeting in Kampala to discuss the current security situation in Somalia.
Top of the agenda list was the formulation of a robust strategy that the troops could employ to combat the increasing challenges that include limited human and financial resources in Somalia.
In attendance were chiefs from Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Somalia, and Djibouti as well as representatives from African Union.
The meeting is very pivotal to future stability and security of Somalia as AMISOM prepares to withdraw from Somalia. It is paramount to note that the chiefs have already sanctioned a more aggressive approach to dealing with al Shabaab in collaboration with the US airstrikes that have seen hundreds of militants dead in 2018 already.
