At least 13 Al-Shabaab militants were gunned down when Somali Army Forces conducted an ambush against their makeshift camp in Moqokari district in the morning, forcing the militants to flee.
The government forces were on their patrol and pacification mission in the general area of Moqokari District, Hiiran region received intelligence (HUMINT) of a new camp in the area.
In a coordinated operation ambushed the militant camp inflicting losses to the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab insurgents.
Machine-gun fire and rocket propelled grenades were fired. 13 militants were neutralized.
The battle damage assessment (BDA) shows the army may have been affected but negligibly.
Moqokari district is now manned and under the control of Somalia military forces.
