United States Wednesday afternoon conducted airstrikes targeting Al-Shabaab headquarters of Jilib in Somalia.
AFRICOM issued a statement Confirming of the air shelling that took place in Jilib district. The air raid left three Al-Shabaab operatives killed and dozens wounded.
AMISOM and US troops came in helicopters at area between Yontoy and BuulaGaduud villages and bombarded militants’ reported hideouts.
AFRICOM vowed that U.S. forces will continue to use all authorized and appropriate measures to protect US and allies and subsequently disable terrorist threats.
US continues to partner with AMISOM and Somali National Security Forces (SNSF); targeting terrorists, their training camps and safe havens throughout Somalia, the region and around the world, the military statement noted.
