Somali security forces with back up from the US troops stationed in Somalia conducted a raid on an al Shabaab camp and freeing at least 30 child rookie soldiers. The team of US Special Forces offered both tactical and technical assistance to the Somali forces in the raid in the Middle Shabelle region.
The ground assistance comes alongside airstrike that killed 4 al Shabaab militants near Kismayo. The children rescued are part of a recent forceful recruitment campaign by the militants from villages and schools. Reports in recent weeks have discovered that al Shabaab in a bid to boost their troop and advance their agenda have been abducting and forcing villagers to surrender children to join the terrorist organization.
