Police in Mombasa arrested two criminal suspects and recovered a toy pistol and police handcuffs.
The two suspected robbers were netted on Wednesday at around 1pm in Kiembeni estate in Kisauni Sub County.
The suspects finally identified as Francis Nziomba and Nicholas Kyallo were in a black Subaru vehicle which police impounded.
Following intelligence tip-off from members of the public, the vehicle the suspects were using had been laden with explosives and were targeting unknown destination to bomb.
Police from the anti-terrorism police unit, flying squad and anti-crime patrol team were mobilized and efforts to track them commenced.
Roadblocks were mounted in various roads in the city as police comb the estate and subsequently arrested.
The two are locked up at the Kisauni dog unit and car was towed to the station as investigations commenced. The suspects are linked to robberies in the city or any other part of the country.
