U.S. and coalition military forces continues with offensive against the Islamist terrorist group ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials, the joint forces on April, 4, 2017, conducted 27 air strikes consisting of 55 engagements against ISIS targets.
Officials reported details of yesterday’s strikes, noting that assessments of results are based on initial reports.
STRIKES IN SYRIA
Coalition military forces conducted 14 strikes consisting of 17 engagements against ISIS targets in Syria:
Four air strikes conducted near Abu Kamal destroyed nine ISIS wellheads and an oil storage tank while near Dayr Az Zawr, four strikes destroyed five ISIS wellheads and five barges.
In Palmyra, two air raids engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed a heavy machine gun while near Raqqa, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit.
Three strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed two fighting positions and a tank Near Tabqah.
STRIKES IN IRAQ
Coalition military forces conducted a total of 13 air strikes consisting of 38 engagements against ISIS targets in Iraq, coordinated with and in support of the Iraqi government.
Near Mosul, a total of six strikes engaged five ISIS tactical units and an ISIS machine gun team. Five fighting positions, two vehicle-bomb factories, a weapons facility and an anti-air artillery system were destroyed. Three supply routes and three fighting position were damaged and four ISIS mortar teams suppressed, two ISIS tactical units and an ISIS artillery team.
Near Qaim, five strikes destroyed two vehicle-bomb factories, two weapons storage facilities and an ISIS-held building while in Rawah, two strikes engaged two ISIS staging areas.
PART OF OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE
These air bombardments were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. The operation is aimed at completely destroy ISIS capability and operations in Iraq and Syria.
