Police on Monday arrested a young girl on connection with dreaded Watalia criminal gang in Likoni.
The suspected criminal whose name has been withheld was arrested in the Vyemani neighborhood of Likoni by special team of police officers formed to track down criminal gangs in Mombasa.
According to initial police investigation and referenced by Likoni police boss Willy Simba, the girl is a part of a gang causing trouble in Likoni and surrounding areas. The suspect had some marks on her body that show allegiance to the group.
We are holding the suspect, but it is shocking to find a school girl who has been recruited to join the gang, she had drawings in her hands pledging allegiance to the outlawed gang, the police boss said.
The arrest comes barely a week after 13 other members of the Watalia criminal gang were arrested in the area.
