Thursday, March 23, 2017- Uganda’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura has appointed Mr Asan Kasingye as the new Police spokesperson.
Kasingye will be taking the office of the tragically slain Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
In a letter addressing all police units, Gen. Kahihura also appointed Kasingye as the Chief Political Commissar.
Kasingye has been serving as the Director of International Police and Peace Support (Interpol) prior to his new appointment.
His former position has been taken by Assistant Inspector General of Police Fred Yiga according to IGP letter.
Before his appointment, the Director of Operations Mr Asuman Mugyenyi was acting the Force’s Spokesperson.
Taking up the position, Kasingye said he was happy that he is back to the offices of political commissariat and public relations and promised to improve the police image.
The new police spokesperson joined police in the late 1980s, has been working in community policing department for most of his time. He was once a public relations officer during which time he won an award as the police officer of the year.
