Latest military reports from Somali semi-autonomous Puntland State indicate that it has deployed hundreds of its armed forces in readiness to fight and repel pro-ISIS terrorists in the coastal town of Qandala.
The pro-ISIS faction in Somalia led by Abdikadir Mumin had last week briefly captured Qandala town after a tactical withdrawal by Puntland forces.
Accoording to Puntland official, hundreds of Puntland armed forces has been deployed to Qandala in readiness to counter Abdikadir Mumin’s fighters who since then have vacated the town amid Puntland government preparation to carry out military operations against the group.
The situation has prompted more than 400 of Qandala residents to flee their homes, fearing a new fight between Puntland armed forces and pro-ISIS militants.
