The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Deputy Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Mohammedesha Zeyinu completed his tour of duty in Somalia after serving for one and half years.
The dedicated deputy force commander was in-charge of Operations and Planning. Maj. Gen. Zeyinu officially handed the mantle to Maj. Gen. Abreha Tesfay.
In a brief ceremony held on Saturday at AMISOM headquarters; was witnesses AMISOM senior officials among them the Force Commander, Lt. Gen. Osman Noor Soubagleh, and Deputy Force Commander, Support and Logistics, Maj. Gen. Nakibus Lakara.
Maj. Gen. Zeyinu said he was proud to serve under AMISOM adding that he has gain invaluable experience in counter-insurgency operations.
The outgoing Maj. Gen, thanked AMISOM personnel for their support. He urged them to work accord similar support to his successor, Maj. Gen. Abreha Tesfay.
On his part, the incoming Deputy Force Commander Maj. Gen. Tesfay paid tribute to his predecessor for his role in the military operations that greatly contributed to weakening of Al-Shabaab.
Maj. Gen. Tesfay noted that Al-Shabaab remains a threat and stressed the need to completely degrade the terror group for peace and stability to return to Somalia and its East African countries.
