Turkey has set its first military base in Somalia, military intelligence reports now say.
Turkey has also completed equipping its first military base in Africa in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu.
According to a local daily ‘Sabah’, the new military base in Somalia will be the second overseas military installation expected to be operational soon.
Turkish forces will be sent to Somalia to train Somali troops against the terrorist organization. Some 200 Turkish soldiers to be sent to the base in the first stage to train 10,500 Somali soldiers, the report added.
Ankara on the forefront providing military support to Somalia for over five years, under the military and financial cooperation deals between the two countries.
Turkish first overseas military base was established in Qatar in April as part of a security agreement.
