Tullow Oil will start farming oil in block 12B in Nyanza area of Kenya.
According to Tullow Oil officials, Tullow farmed in to Block 12B in Kenya in February 2012.
The Nyanza area is could be rich with oil and might have larger deposits than the Turkana discovery in the Ngamia-1 well, the prime minister of Kenya Odinga insisted.
Tullow Oil officials have been seen in Nyakach district of Nyanza area surveying the acreage that is block 12B.
The Luo community in Nyakach is very excited about Tullow Oil interest on the block.
Intelligence gathered on the Nyakach Tullow Oil project indicate that the hand of the Kenyan prime minister is on the project after it was confirmed that he lobbied Tullow to prospect the area.
Odinga is on record purporting he wanted to open up the area to development.
The lake region was once on the news when a substance like oil was discovered on very shallow areas confirming presence of oil pay at very shallow depth.
Meanwhile Tullow Oil local chief man confirmed they were in the initial stages of starting exploration efforts and that they had secured a license to explore the block.
