At least 8 Al-Shabaab militants were killed by SNA backed by AMISOM forces at Bud-bud location in central Somalia's Galgudud region Wednesday 7th September 2016.
SNA and AMISOM soldiers in a ground operation raided an Al Qaeda affiliated Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) movement in their makeshift encampment in Bud-bud; heavy gun fight ensued with eight terrorists being killed.
According to Ahmed Mohamed, SNA commander in the region, the joint forces killed eight Al-Shabaab fighters and recovered several grenades including one artillery gun that they were using.
Dozens of the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) movement fighters in the multipronged operation managed to flee, some with gun wounds.
Later in through the Al-Shabaab militant’s propaganda channels claimed they were still in control of Bud-bud area from the AMISOM’s Ethiopian troops, a claim which the government troops and AMISOM forces have termed as wishful thinking.
Earlier in the week, U.S. Special Forces conducted two drone strikes which targeted an Al-Shabaab makeshift encampment in Taratorow area of Lower Shabelle region of Somalia killing three (yet to be identified) top military operations commanders (generals).
