Tanzanian President John Magufuli appointed Dr Modestus Kipilimba as the new Director General of the Tanzania Intelligence and Security Services (TISS).
Dr Kipilimba was appointed and sworn in last week to replace Mr. Rashid Othman who had retired according to a statement issued by State House, Directorate of Communications.
Prior to his appointment as Tanzania’s top spy, Dr Kipilimba an Acting Director General at National Identification Agency (NIDA).
President Magufuli also appointed Mr. Robert Msalika as the Deputy Director General replacing Mr. George Madafa who has appointed as a new ambassador.
Dr Kipilimba appointment at the helm of the spy agency comes at a time Tanzania is at crosshairs with a global terror organization –ISIS, which published a video announcing setting of a camp in the Amboni caves of Tanga region in North East Tanzania, early in May signalling a possible surge.
