Security agents are closely monitoring the coastal separatist group, Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) which is in the process of recruiting new members.
MRC through the group’s spokesman Richard Lewa publicly announced that the group is recruiting members in the six counties.
MRC in the past has been linked with funding and recruitment of Al-Shabaab in guised as land separatist group.
The security agents expected to look closely into the group’s activities. MRC which has several denied is not a criminal outfit was banned by the government six years ago.
The group is remembered for an abrasive slogan "Pwani si Kenya" (Mombasa is not in Kenya) which made the authority to take action on its leadership and subsequently banning the outfit.
