AMISOM troops and Somali National Army (SNA) resolved to enhance cooperation as wider plans strengthen their fight against the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The new AMISOM Force Commander, Lt. Gen. Osman Soubagleh, at a meeting attended by SNA Chief of Defence Forces, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Aden Ahmed, and the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC) for Somalia, Lydia Wanyoto stressed the need for the allied forces to cooperate in order to defeat Al-Shabaab.
Lt. Gen. Osman Soubagleh reiterated the importance of working as a team, jointly conducting operations and following directives by those in command saying that the only way they will achieve their mandate.
Lt. Gen. Soubagleh spoke on Thursday 4th August 2016, at a joint conference that brought together top AMISOM and SNA army commanders.
The objective of the joint conference that was held in Somali capital, Mogadishu, was aimed at charting the way forward in securing Somalia.
The SNA Chief of Defence Forces, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Aden Ahmed also reiterated the need for greater co-operation, citing what needs to be done to transform the SNA into a robust army, capable of executing its core mandate of securing Somalia off Al-Shabaab militancy.
