On Sunday 24th July 2016, Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) conducted night counter-terrorism operations targeting Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) terrorist’s positions in El-Adde area of Gedo region in Somalia.
Military Intelligence reports show Al-Shabaab terrorists had set up camp at the ex-AMISOM-KDF-FOB in El-Adde. Army deployed the air-force to conduct precision airstrikes against target El-Adde.
Initial battle damage assessment (BDA) show that, the make-shift camp was completely destroyed, approximately 3 vehicles decommissioned, and a unspecified number of militants killed in the sortie.
HUMINT Reports from assets in El-Adde confirm Al-Shabaab suffered heavy causalities. There was sighting of dozens militants conducting surveillance the area from a distance early Monday.
AMISOM’s El-Adde forward operating base (FOB) was attacked mid January by Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) terrorist’s. 86 Soldiers from the KDF-AMISOM contingent were killed while over 300 militants were killed in counter strikes by the Kenya Army.
