On 21st July 2016, two terrorists from the Al-Shabaab group, Salim Hanjary Benzimba and Kibwana Ahmed Abdallah were gunned down by the Kenya Anti-Terror Police in Kisauni area on Mombasa County in Coastal Kenya.
The two terrorists were planning to conduct attacks against civilian targets in the tourist town of Mombasa
Police issued a statement confirming that they killed 2 terrorists who escaped a dragnet in Malindi, and that 17 rounds of ammunition, three liquid explosives, four plastic explosives and four bomb detonators were recovered in the house the terrorists were hiding.
Public participated in the operation by tipping off the police.
